Stewardship and Ethics

Demonstrate resource stewardship and professional ethical behavior.

Good ethics and a strong moral compass are must-haves for anyone hoping to gain trust in a business relationship. Developers need to maintain a number of business relationships throughout their careers, and they need an honorable reputation to keep those relationships.

Like every other student who has had the privilege of attending Texas A&M, the Aggie Honor Code – “An Aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate others who do.” – has been engrained in my head since my freshman year. I have tried to apply that level of integrity to every action I make in my everyday life. My professors in this program have continually stressed the importance of stewardship, especially when it comes to development. When we take ownership of a property or a project, we become its caretaker. We must look out for its best interests and proceed in an ethical manner. Strong ethics have to be the guiding force for that role of a developer.
